A medical experiment constitutes a specialized form of research activity, the primary objective of which is the advancement of medical knowledge or the implementation of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Act of 5 December 1996 on the Professions of Physician and Dentist, these studies are classified into therapeutic experiments (aimed at providing a direct health benefit to the patient) and research experiments (aimed at expanding scientific knowledge). The legal and ethical conduct of both forms of activity requires compliance with rigorous criteria: drafting a detailed scientific project, guaranteeing the absolute safety of participants, and obtaining a positive opinion from the relevant bioethics committee.
The Center for Clinical Research and Translational Medicine Support (CR&TM SC) at Wrocław University of Science and Technology provides comprehensive advisory and organizational services for research teams planning and conducting medical experiments. As part of its operations, the Center offers professional support at every stage of the project, including in particular:
- formal and legal verification – evaluating the project’s assumptions against the defining criteria of a medical experiment,
- identification of adequate external funding sources and assistance throughout the application process,
- the preparation of complete research documentation and documents dedicated to the relevant bioethics committees,
- support in study design, process organization, as well as data and document management,
- results processing, including professional statistical analysis and support in the interpretation of the obtained scientific data.
The scope of the services provided is customized and tailored to the specific nature and individual needs of each project.
